One of the many positive aspects of Durham College is their commitment to professional development. As a new faculty member I am thrilled to be able to spend a part of my first year enrolled in a series of courses designed to help me improve my teaching practice. One such course entitled Teaching Methodologies introduced me to the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL). UDL principles involve creating a learning environment that is accessible, flexible and engaging for all students. I invite you to explore the lesson plan below which I created for one of my human resources management courses - recruitment and selection. At the conclusion of the plan I explain how I attempted to incorporate UDL principles into my lesson.
